World’s Cartoonists Get Back at Assad After Brutal Dictator Broke Artist’s Hands

Last week, Ali Ferzat, a popular political cartoonist in Syria, was adbucted and beaten and left bleeding on the side of the road in an attack blamed on the security forces of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

A photo of Ferzat in his bed, bandaged hands raised, became perhaps more powerful than any cartoon.
